SBS9828X on Service 154

The Volvo Super Olympian was a low-floor double-decker bus manufactured by Volvo. It replaced the 3-axle version of Volvo Olympian. The chassis had the designated manufacturer code B10TL.

Singapore Bus Services/SBS Transit

SBS had purchased a total of 52 Volvo B10TLs between 1999 and 2001.

In 1999, SBS received a B10TL demonstrator unit bodied by Volgren. It was the first first low-floor double-decker bus to be operated by SBS, and featured a new version of the Superbus livery. It was originally fitted with Mobitec flip-dot Electronic Destination Signage (EDS), which was removed in 2005.

In 2010, the demonstrator unit was burnt in a depot fire, and was retired.

Production Batch

In 2001, SBS made an order of 51 B10TL chassis. 50 of the buses received the "CR222LD" bodywork by Volgren, which is the same as the demonstrator, and were the first buses to be delivered in the new SBS Transit livery. These buses were not fitted with any EDS until 2012, where all of them received LECIP EDS. Originally fitted with 3 speed Voith gearbox, some of the buses have it replaced by a 4 speed ZF gearbox.

PSV International/ComfortDelGro Engineering (Demonstrator)

The last Volvo B10TL chassis received a prototype bodywork by ComfortDelgro Engineering, built with kits from PSV International as a basis for the B9TLs that will be bodied by ComfortDelgro Engineering. It was originally fitted with Transit Media EDS, before being replaced with a LECIP unit in 2014.
