MAN NDxx3F are different low-floor double-decker bus chassis built by MAN, and are based on the MAN ND313 Lion's City DD (A39) integral low-floor double-decker bus. They have only been built in very small numbers and only for right-hand drive markets.
In 2013, a new double deck chassis based on the A22-series low floor single-decker chassis was launched as the MAN ND323F and MAN ND363F, with a new chassis code A95.
The ND323F is essentially a low-floor double-decker bus chassis, fitted with a 320hp engine.
SMRT made a total purchase of 17 of ND363Fs between 2014 and 2015. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) also purchased 60 additional units for the Bus Contracting Model (BCM), bringing the total number up to 77.
In 2014, SMRT received a ND323F demonstrator, bodied by Gemilang Coachwork to the Lion's City DD design that was licensed by MAN. The overall interior design is similar to SBS Transit's Gemilang bodied Volvo B9TL demonstrator, but built to SMRT specifications.
In 2016, the original Aesys Electronic Destination Signage (EDS) set was replaced with a Mobitec set, same as those fitted on the production batch buses.
The trial of the demonstrator unit was successful, and SMRT made a purchase of 16 units in 2015. They were built to the same specifications as the demonstrator, but featured an updated front and rear design. The interior was also updated to a newer design, and now features a straight staircase. Daytime running lights, tree guards, doors closing announcement for the front doors, upper deck seat counter at the driver's cab and an additional centre brake light were also added. The later buses received an additional bus stopping light in the interior, vents on the engine cover and updated dress rim covers.
The LTA purchased an additional 60 units in 2015. These buses were built to the same specifications as the later batch 1 buses, but without the tree guards. A small panel was also installed at the edges of the last window on the lower deck, giving a rounded look. Earlier buses were painted in the SMRT livery, with the default black painted portion at the sides. However, the first 4 registered buses had the black portion painted over, giving it the same look as the demonstrator and the batch 1 buses. The later buses were painted in the lush green livery.
The last 10 buses, SG5790H to SG5799J were fitted with USB charging ports.
In September 2016, LTA purchased yet another 122 more MAN A95 buses for its pool of buses in the Bus Contracting Model. These buses are slated to hit the roads in 2017 and are likely to be equipped with USB Charging Ports as well.
